Searching for Sky
2015 paper, wood Seven cardboard view finders line the wall, each resting on its own individual shelf. “Searching for Sky” explores the process of memory; what we choose to hold onto, to create while pursuing a nomadic lifestyle. The installation begins with a pair of opera glasses and travels down the line of binoculars and telescopes ultimately coming to a space telescope which has been placed high up, out of the viewer’s reach. When looking into the objects and directing them toward the light, fragments of a story can be read. This piece reflects on the nostalgia of the past. Looking back at one’s origins, but perpetually be pulled forward. It deals with the struggle of wanting to move ahead, continuing the adventure while also wanting to hold onto a past which is no longer within reach. |
