It would be better for us all if you stayed
2015 ceramic, ruber band, lamp, carpet “It would be better for us all if you stayed” is a reflection on the navigation and balance of maintaining relationships. The work consists of a group of ceramic objects (each approximately 1 meter [3 ft] high) which are tied together with a large rubber band. At their bases, the objects come to single points making it impossible for them to stand on their own. By being bound together, they are enabled to stand, however they then become dependent upon one another. If any one object leaves the group or even shifts its weight, the entire group is put at jeopardy and runs the risk of collapse. Ceramic by nature, the collapse would lead to several if not all of them breaking. The objects stand in a space that slightly resembles a living room. A rug and lamp create an eerie sense of home. |
